Flash can be used to build infographics (informative graphics). News sites and educational sites often use Flash to illustrate a concept or to graphically portray some news story.

Check these pages for some examples of infographics created in Flash

I have two examples here. I encourage you to use the technique presented here and come up with your own infographics.

Example 1: Frame by Frame animation

Here we use frame by frame animation to show the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The North Vietnamese army used this path to run its supplies to the south.

1) Download the picture (right click and select "Save Target as") . Save it on your desktop.

2) Import the picture into Flash. File -> Import.

3) Rename the layer. Call it Map.

4) Go to Frame 60 on this Map layer and insert a Keyframe. (Right Click at frame 60 and select Insert Keyframe).

5) Lock this Map Layer.

6) Insert another layer. From the top menu Insert -> Layer

7) Name this new layer as Path.

8) Go to the first frame of the path layer. Use the brush tool and draw a small line(somewhere in north vietnam). This is our starting point.

9) Go to the frame 5. Insert a Keyframe. You will notice that the previous line appears on this frame. Draw another little line pointing south.

10) Go to the frame 10. Insert a Keyframe. Extend the line a bit more.

11) Continue the process in step 10 for every fifth Frame until you reach Frame 60

This diagram shows the timeline of this movie.
